02 · Distingui i problemi

Your college has asked you to write a report on its study spaces. Describe how students currently use them, identify two problems and recommend improvements. Write 220–260 words.

Report on study spaces at North College

Purpose

This report examines how students use the college's study spaces and suggests changes that would make them more effective. It draws on a short conversation with students from three courses and my own observations during the last two weeks.

Current use

The library is busiest before lunchtime, when students work alone or revise in pairs. Groups usually move to the café because conversation is allowed there. However, the café has few power sockets and is too noisy for online meetings.

Problems

First, the quiet area fills quickly at examination time. Students who arrive later often sit on the floor or leave the building. Second, the two rooms advertised for group work are frequently booked for staff meetings. As a result, students discuss projects in corridors, which disturbs nearby classes.

Recommendations

I recommend converting the little-used storage room next to the library into a bookable group room. A simple online calendar would let students see when it is available. The college should also extend library opening hours by one hour during examination weeks, provided that staffing can be arranged. These changes would separate quiet work from discussion without requiring a new building.

Conclusion

The present spaces are useful, but their rules and availability do not match the way students study. The two changes proposed above would address the main difficulties at modest cost.

Perché funziona

  • Distinguo fatti, effetti e consigli.
  • Le proposte sono praticabili.
  • Uso un registro adatto e 220–260 parole.
